Chelsea Groton Bank has hired Richard Sudol as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Sudol replaces Richard Morelli, who recently retired after 30 years with Chelsea Groton Bank, the bank said in a statement last week. In addition to overseeing the bank’s finances, Sudol will manage Chelsea Groton Bank’s technology department.
Sudol was most recently the CFO at Connex Credit Union in North Haven, and previously spent eight years as CFO at Simsbury Bank, where he also had leadership responsibility for technology. Sudol spent the early part of his career in finance and accounting at Webster Bank. He then worked for a large mortgage servicing company, a mid-sized commercial bank and a de novo bank before joining Simsbury, the bank said.
“Rich is a seasoned industry professional with the skills and experience necessary to execute on our overall strategic business objectives,” Michael Rauh, president and CEO of Chelsea Groton Bank, said in the statement. “He has proven experience leading smaller community banks as well as very large organizations in the areas of finance and accounting. With responsibility for our financial planning and analysis leadership function, as well as technology, Rich will work with leaders across the organization to help carry out our vision for Chelsea Groton’s continued role as a leading bank in the region and critical member of our business community in the near future and the long-term. Rich really believes in our mission as a community bank, and will undoubtedly be a great contributor to the Chelsea Groton team.”
