A well-known Hamden property has sold for $590,000.

The “Brownstone” building, as it is known thanks to a longtime restaurant tenant, is located at 2365 Whitney Ave., at the corner of Whitney and Dixwell Avenues.

The building sits on 0.17 acres and was built in 1950, according to town records. The 3,435-square-foot, single-story structure contains five storefronts: the restaurant and four small retail spaces. It also hosts a billboard on its roof.

Stephen Press, co-principal of Press|Cuozzo Commercial Services, represented sellers Cara L. Malavolti and Lynn C. Malavolti and procured the buyer, a New Haven-based LLC.

Public records indicate the property has been in the Malavolti family’s hands for many years.
