The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $28,700 in grants to 27 emergency service organizations.

“Jewett City Savings Bank appreciates the courageous emergency services providers who put their lives at risk to ensure we all stay safe and healthy. The foundation’s grants were allocated to ensure that local emergency services providers have the equipment and support they need to ensure their safety and wellbeing,” JCSB President and CEO Kevin Merchant said in a statement.

Grant recipients were almost entirely fire departments based in local municipalities. Several grants were for specific purchases – in the case of Sterling Volunteer Fire Company, $1,000 for horse rescue equipment – while others were annual support grants.
