The Danbury Fair mall is losing one of its anchor stores, a Sears that had downsized a few years ago in the face of declining sales.

“After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Sears store in Danbury,” the company said in a statement.

The liquidation sale will be completed by mid-February, it said.

With Forever 21’s own bankruptcy struggles claiming its two-story anchor storefront at the mall, Dainbury Fair will be left with only three anchor stores; however the Irish fast fashion retailer Primark took the third floor of the three-story Sears space in 2016.

Sears’ stores in Milford and Waterford closed after the company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, but the company still lists an open store in Manchester, plus auto centers and an appliance outlet elsewhere in the state.
