Cushman & Wakefield held its 7th annual Bowl-A-Thon at Bowlmor Lanes in Norwalk, on Nov. 12. This year’s event benefited First Candle, a Connecticut-based non-profit committed to ending Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths while also providing bereavement support to families who have experienced a loss.
“Community engagement and philanthropy have become a part of our office culture at Cushman & Wakefield,” Brian Scruton, who spearheaded the event with colleagues Adam Klimek, John Altieri and Matthew Torrance, said in a statement. “We are proud to host such a fun annual event that brings the community together while also benefiting a great cause like First Candle.”
This year’s Bowl-A-Thon featured 33 teams of five to six bowlers who played two games in a set amount of time. The winning team, SWC, was chosen by taking the top score for each individual bowler and computing the team’s total number of points.
The event was attended by over 200 professionals from Fairfield and Westchester counties, with a total of $91,000 being raised for First Candle. Over the past 7 years, the Cushman & Wakefield Bowl-A-Thon has raised over $500,000 for various organizations throughout the community.
“This event brings together brokers, landlords, contractors, lawyers, architects, construction groups and others for a friendly competition that benefits an incredible organization,” Klimek said in a statement. “I’m proud to be a part of a community that is so enthusiastic about giving back.”
First Candle is a Connecticut-based 501(c)3 non-profit that has been committed to ending SIDS and other sudden unexpected infant deaths more than 35 years. The organization’s purpose is clear: saving babies and supporting families. By partnering with local organizations throughout the country, First Candle helps share with new and expectant parents the importance of providing a safe sleep environment for their baby.
