A bill in the state legislature that would reduce the number of permits a prospective brewery would need to open, from five to one, is getting positive reviews from the state’s beer industry.

The bill could generate benefits to commercial and industrial landlords and developers, as well.

The bill would also add an excise tax for beer sold in taprooms and boost the the limit on sales for off-premise consumption would go from 9 liters per day to 23, the New Haven Register reported.

The state has 85 breweries right now, with further expansion predicted, the paper reports.
