Hartford is the worst state capital for quality of life and ranked last among 50, according to a recent WalletHub study that ranked state capitals across the country for affordability, a strong economy, high education standards and overall quality of life.
Hartford came in at number 49 for the least affordable housing and last for lowest median household income. The city ranked at 47 for the highest unemployment rate and had the highest percentage of people below the poverty level. Hartford had the lowest percentage of residents with at least a bachelor’s degree. However, Hartford came in first as having the lowest debt as percentage of median income. The city also had the fewest average hours worked per week.
