The historic Barton House property in New Milford has sold for $1,000,075.

The buyer, Waltham, Massachusetts-based Dakota Partners Inc., plans to construct two new apartment buildings to be called Barton Commons at the 34 East St. location. The 3.5-acre property will be converted into 34 one- and two-bedroom apartments, 30 of which will be affordable housing units. The existing two-story residence is more than 150 years old and eligible for historic designation by The National Park Service. Construction – which will be consistent with National Park service historic guidelines – will begin in early 2016 and is slated for completion by the end of the year.

The seller was Gary Romaniello of 34 East Street LLC. Hal Kurfehs, vice president of Coldwell Banker, brokered the sale.
